November 4 - Little Rock DAVID ANKENY is the founder of Lighthouse Compliance Solutions. Just a few years ago, Mr. Ankeny worked as a prominent attorney in one of the country's most knowledgeable and respected employment law firms, teaming with leading human resources professionals. During his career, he has developed extensive knowledge of the OFCCP and has written widely on affirmative action and employment law. Based on this track record, Mr. Ankeny started Lighthouse Compliance Solutions, bringing together proprietary software and processes designed specifically to address the compliance needs of federal contractors. He received his B.S. (in psychology and computer science) and M.A. (in communication) degrees from the University of Wyoming, and his J.D. degree from Tulane University. He is a member of the Louisiana and Arkansas bars. J. BRUCE CROSS is a director in the Little Rock firm of Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C. His practice includes work before the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Wage & Hour and OFCCP Divisions of the Department of Labor, as well as related federal and state court litigation. Mr. Cross' experience includes collective bargaining, arbitration, advising management regarding maintenance of a non-union and non-discriminatory workplace, supervisory training, development of personnel systems and the preparation of affirmative action plans. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law. DONNA S. GALCHUS is a director in the law firm of Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C. Prior to moving to Arkansas in 1976, Ms. Galchus was an assistant professor of economics for four years at Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia. Engaged in the practice of labor and employment law, Ms. Galchus works primarily in the areas of employment and discrimination and employment-related tort litigation. Ms. Galchus graduated, cum laude, from the University of Missouri at St. Louis. She received a master's degree from Washington University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law at Little Rock, where she was a staff member of the UALR Law Journal. Ms. Galchus has co-written Chapter 16 of the Third Edition of Schlei & Grossman, Employment Discrimination Law. She has served on the Board of Editors of the treatise on the Fair Labor Standards Act. TRAVIS BO LOFTIS SR. is an attorney with Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C., where his areas of practice include labor relations, employment, workers' compensation and commercial/corporate law. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock and his J.D. degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law. Mr. Loftis is a member of the American Bar Association (Labor and Employment Division), the Arkansas and Pulaski County bar associations, and The Federalist Society. Jeff Starling Jr. Award in 2007, which is awarded to the outstanding graduate in labor and employment law. In 2007, she was admitted to practice in Arkansas and for the U.S. District Courts, Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas and in 2008 for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. Ms. Cummings received her B.A. degree, cum laude, from Lyon College and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Arkansas School of Law. CAROLYN B. WITHERSPOON is a director in the Little Rock law firm of Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C., where she primarily represents public and private employers in defending employment related matters, including Title VII litigation. She does extensive training in the employment area for employers. Ms. Witherspoon is a frequent contributor to legal publications on topics involving employment and personnel issues. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and her J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law. Ms. Witherspoon is a member of the American Law Institute, chair of the Board of Bar Examiners, the American Judicature Society, the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association, is chair of the Arkansas Fellows of the American Bar Foundation and is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. She is a member of TIPS and the EEO Committee of the Labor Law Section of the American Bar Association. Ms. Witherspoon is an arbitrator of The Court of Arbitration for Sport and a member of the American Arbitration Association Roster of Employment Arbitrators and Mediators. November 16 - Fayetteville DOUGLAS M. CARSON is a member of Daily & Woods, P.L.L.C., where he practices in the areas of labor and employment law, insurance, products liability, workers compensation, employment discrimination defense, commercial litigation, natural resources and intellectual property. Mr. Carson received his B.A. degree and his J.D. degree from the University of Arkansas. He is a member of the Sebastian County, Arkansas and American bar associations, the Defense Research Institute, Inc. and the Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel. KRISTIN L. PAWLIK has worked for the Public Defender's Office in the 19th Judicial District for more than four years, most recently as Chief Deputy Public Defender. Ms. Pawlik joined Keith, Miller, Butler, Schneider & Pawlik, PLLC, in October of 2003, and concentrates her practice in the areas of domestic relations, family law, criminal defense and employment law. She became a partner in 2008. Ms. Pawlik received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1996, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She attended the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute at Mercer Law School. She belongs to the Arkansas Bar Association and the Benton County Bar Association, where she served as president in 2007.
