JAMES A. BRADFORD is a partner in the Birmingham office of Balch & Bingham LLP, where he devotes a substantial part of his practice to the areas of title insurance claims, coverage issues and litigation. Mr. Bradford earned his B.A. degree from the University of the South (Sewanee) and his J.D. degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. He has been a frequent speaker on topics relating to the law of titles and title insurance and is the author or co-author of a number of articles on these subjects. Mr. Bradford is a fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and a member of the American Bar Association, where he has served as chair of the Title Insurance Litigation Committee of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. He also is a member of the American Bar Association's Real Property, Probate and Trust Section and Real Estate and Probate Litigation Committee of the Litigation Section. Mr. Bradford serves as a member of the Alabama Board of Bar Examiners. WARREN LAIRD III is the Alabama state agency manager and counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Company. Prior to joining Stewart Title Guaranty Company, Mr. Laird was vice president and general counsel for a regional settlement service provider. He previously has lectured to various professionals on real property issues. Mr. Laird has been an adjunct faculty at Walker College, and he has served as a member of the faculty of the Alabama Judicial College and the Birmingham School of Law. He has published articles on title and real property issues in the Alabama Lawyer, the Arkansas Land Title Association Journal, the Dixie Land Title Association Journal and the Louisiana Land Title Association Journal. Mr. Laird earned his B.S. degree from the University of Alabama and his J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar and the American Bar Association. Mr. Laird serves as Governmental Affairs chair for the Alabama Land Title Association. He was honored by Dixie Land Title Association at its 2002 convention as the Title Person of the Year. STEVEN R. PARKER is an associate with Balch & Bingham LLP and is a member of the business litigation practice group. His practice involves complex commercial litigation including real estate litigation, casualty and products liability matters, intellectual property disputes, covenant not to compete enforcement, pharmaceuticals and other general litigation matters. Mr. Parker has represented banks, accounting firms, insurance companies, title insurers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, utility companies, corporations and individuals. As a member of the firm's real estate litigation practice group, he represents commercial and private property owners, banks and title insurers in real estate and real property litigation involving encroachment, easement, eminent domain, condemnation, boundary, quiet title, and trespass disputes. Mr. Parker is a member of the Defense Research Institute (Trial Tactics Committee and Diversity Committee), Birmingham Bar Association, Birmingham Inns of Court, Alabama State Bar (Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, Diversity Committee and Intellectual Property Law Section), American Bar Association (Title Insurance Litigation Committee of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, and Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section) and Birmingham Chamber of Commerce (African American Business Council). He is an adjunct faculty member at Samford University, where he teaches a class in trial advocacy and coaches the Samford University Mock Trial Team. Mr. Parker earned his undergraduate degree from California State University, Northridge and his law degree from North Carolina Central University.
