J. DOUGLAS FIELDS JR. is the principal owner of Fields Law Firm, based in Birmingham with satellite offices in Tuscaloosa and Columbus, Georgia. He practices throughout Alabama, in state and federal courts, litigating on behalf of injury victims in motor vehicle accidents, of faulty products or premises, and of medical and pharmaceutical negligence, as well as in the areas of workers' compensation, employment litigation and Social Security disability. He has lectured to various business and professional groups on topics related to his areas of practice. He is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association, Alabama State Bar, The American Association for Justice and Alabama Association for Justice. Mr. Fields earned his B.A. degree from the University of Florida and his J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University. RONALD W. FLOWERS JR. is an attorney in the Birmingham office of Burr & Forman LLP. Mr. Flowers focuses his practice in the area of labor and employment law. He advises clients in employment policies and practices and represents and advises management regarding Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, USERRA, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower provisions, workers' compensation retaliatory discharge statutes, and various other federal and state statutes. He consults companies dealing with union campaigns, union representatives, and OSHA investigations and defends companies before the National Labor Relations Board and OSHA. Mr. Flowers has given numerous talks to companies and at seminars on labor and employment law. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar (Labor and Employment Section) and the American and Birmingham bar associations. Mr. Flowers earned his B.S. degree from the University of Virginia and his J.D. degree from Duke University School of Law. RACHEL E. VanNORTWICK practices in Lloyd, Gray, Whitehead & Monroe, PC's Labor and Employment Practice Group. Ms. VanNortwick represents employers in all aspects of federal and state court litigation involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour, family and medical leave, and non-compete agreements, and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations. She has also handled appeals to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court. Ms. VanNortwick assists employers in drafting policies, provides training seminars and conducts internal investigations of alleged violations of state and federal anti-discrimination laws. She received her B.A. degree from Samford University and her J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University. She is a member of the Alabama Bar Association (member, Labor and Employment Section) and the Birmingham Bar Association (Executive Committee Member, Young Lawyers Section and Participant, Birmingham Bar Association's 2010 Future Leader Forum).
