July 26 - Mobile ANGELA M. COOPER has been practicing in the field of bankruptcy law since 2001 as primarily a debtor's attorney. Ms. Cooper was chairman of the Mobile Bar Association Bankruptcy Section in 2006 and helped train lawyers how to practice under the new Bankruptcy Code at several CLE's in 2005 and 2006. She opened my own firm, Cooper Law Firm, LLC, in 2004. The firm practices in the following areas of law: bankruptcy, personal injury, probate, employment discrimination, and most recently we have added domestic relations and criminal law. Ms. Cooper is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Alabama Bar (Bankruptcy Section), and the Mobile Bar Association (Bankruptcy Section). She was named in America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals 2001/2002 and Cambridge's Who's Who Registry of Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs 2008/2009 and 2009/2010. CHRISTOPHER KERN is the sole practitioner of Christopher Kern Attorney at Law in Mobile, where he practices bankruptcy and commercial law. He earned his B.S. degree from Spring Hill College and his J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He is a frequent lecturer to professional groups on bankruptcy topics. He is a member of the American and the Mobile bar associations, the Alabama State Bar, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. Mr. Kern is a former member of the Panel of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees for the Southern District of Alabama. BESS M. PARRISH CRESWELL is an attorney in the Mobile office of Burr & Forman, LLP. Ms. Creswell practices in the firm's litigation section focusing on bankruptcy, commercial litigation and creditors' rights. Her experience involves handling complex debtor and creditor cases involving fraudulent transfers, real estate, environmental, intellectual property and corporate governance issues. Ms. Creswell co-wrote, "Customers Brokers and the 'Conduit Defense' under section 550 of the Bankruptcy Code" and "Current Issues Involving the Application of Exculpation and the Business Judgment Rule to Creditors' Suits Against Directors of Insolvent Corporations." Prior to joining Burr & Forman, LLP, she practiced bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and commercial litigation at Alston & Bird LLP. She also served as a law clerk for the Honorable C. Ray Mullins in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Ms. Creswell earned her B.S. degree, summa cum laude, and her M.B.A. degree, with distinction, with a double concentration in Accounting and Trust Management from Campbell University. She earned her J.D. degree from Wake Forest University School of Law, where she was the business editor of the Wake Forest Law Review. July 27 - Huntsville BUDDIE R. BROWN JR. is an attorney with the Decatur law office of Brent King Attorney at Law. For the past 10 years, Mr. Brown's practice has focused primarily in the areas of bankruptcy and real estate. He is licensed to practice in Alabama and is a member of the Alabama State Bar Association. He is also a board member of Main Street Decatur Development. Mr. Brown earned his J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law and his M.A. degree from the University of Alabama Huntsville. G. JOHN DEZENBERG JR. is the sole practitioner of the Law Office of G. John Dezenberg Jr. in Huntsville. Mr. Dezenberg has been practicing law for 20 years and works exclusively in the area of consumer bankruptcy, representing debtors in chapters 7 and 13. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the Madison County and Alabama State bar associations. Mr. Dezenberg earned his B.A. degree from the University of Alabama and his J.D. degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. WILLIAM M. HANCOCK is an attorney in the Huntsville law firm of Wolfe, Jones, Wolfe, Hancock & Daniel, LLC. Mr. Hancock practices in commercial litigation, creditors' rights, bankruptcy, real estate, foreclosure and contract law. In his role as a creditors' rights advocate in bankruptcy, Mr. Hancock has lectured on various bankruptcy topics to lawyers, bankers and the financial community for several years. He is a member of the American Bar Association, The Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar. He is admitted to the Alabama State Bar, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle districts of Alabama and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. Mr. Hancock earned his B.A. degree from the University of South Alabama and his J.D. degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. STEVEN C. SASSER is a member of the Decatur law firm of Blackburn, Maloney & Schuppert, LLC, where his practice is concentrated in the areas of creditors' rights, bankruptcy, collections, commercial law and corporate law. Mr. Sasser has experience representing individual creditors, as well as local, regional and national banks, and companies in bankruptcy cases under Chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13. He earned his B.S. degree from Auburn University and his J.D. degree from the University of Alabama. Mr. Sasser is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Alabama State Bar, and the American Bar Association. July 28 - Birmingham ROBERT H. ADAMS is an attorney with the Birmingham law firm of Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC. He represents debtors, creditors, creditors' committees, trustees, bondholders and other clients in bankruptcy, reorganization and creditors' rights proceedings in federal and state courts. For more than 25 years, he has provided a broad range of services to clients in Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 proceedings and foreclosure actions in Alabama and around the southeast. Mr. Adams has been involved in creditors' rights proceedings in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, broadcast communications, the restaurant industry, banking and real estate. He is certified in business bankruptcy law and creditors' rights law by the American Board of Certification. Mr. Adams has been a frequent speaker for continuing education courses on bankruptcy law and related topics, including the interaction of bankruptcy law and divorce law. He has also taught courses on bankruptcy law for paralegals at Cumberland School of Law and served for several years on the faculty of Birmingham School of Law. Active in the federal, state and local bankruptcy bars, Mr. Adams has been named in, The Best Lawyers in America (bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights law) for more than ten years. He also served on the Steering Committee to establish the Alabama Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.
