SUSAN BEHLKE FOLEY is a co-founder of Foley & Foley PC with her husband Richard. She earned her undergraduate degree in economics from Whitman College and her J.D. degree from Lewis & Clark Northwestern School of Law. Mrs. Foley began her law practice in Fairbanks, and moved to Anchorage in 1981. Since then, she has focused her practice exclusively on assisting clients with estate planning, business related issues, probate and trust administration. She is a member and past president of the Anchorage Estate Planning Council. Additionally, she is a member of WealthCounsel, a national organization of estate planning professionals; the Alaska Supreme Court's Probate Rules Committee; the Alaska Bar Association (Estate Planning and Probate Section); and the American and Anchorage bar associations. Mrs. Foley is a graduate fellow of the three-year master's program of the Esperti Peterson Academy of Multidisciplinary Practice. She is active in assisting non-profit organizations in Alaska. Mrs. Foley is the current board chair of the Alaska Community Foundation, and she participated as a member of the Planned Giving Goals and Visioning Committee for United Way of Anchorage. She has been active with the Alaska YWCA and previously served on the school board of Grace Christian School. Throughout her career, Mrs. Foley has taught on estate planning, probate and post mortem administration. She has presented to state and national attorney groups, accountants, financial and insurance professionals, community organizations and philanthropic groups. RICHARD H. FOLEY JR. founded the law firm of Foley & Foley PC with his wife Susan in 1988. He attended the University of Alaska at Fairbanks where he received his B.A. degree in journalism. He worked as a newspaper reporter for the Ketchikan Daily News before attending law school and completing his J.D. degree at Rutgers University. Mr. Foley is a member of WealthCounsel, LLC, a national organization of estate planning attorneys where he currently serves on an advisory committee for irrevocable trusts. He was formerly a member of InKnowVision, a national study group of lawyers, CPAs and financial advisors committed to collaboration and serving high net worth clients. Locally, Mr. Foley is member of the Anchorage Estate Planning Council, the Alaska Bar Association (Estate Planning and Probate Section, Fee Arbitration Committee) and the Anchorage Bar Association. He is a graduate of the Esperti Peterson Academy of Multidisciplinary Practice Advanced Studies Program in estate planning techniques for high net worth individuals. Mr. Foley's background as a litigation attorney gives him a unique ability to teach other attorneys about estate planning topics. He is a frequent speaker on estate planning topics, both in Alaska and nationwide. Professional organizations, banks, brokerage firms and community organizations have benefited from his entertaining teaching style. WILLIAM M. PEARSON joined Foley & Foley PC in 2004 and became a shareholder in the firm in 2010. A graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, Mr. Pearson served as a student writer and then as a note and comment editor for two of the school's law journals. Before law school, he studied international business at the University of Southern Denmark at Sønderborg, and received his undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Idaho. Mr. Pearson is a former co-chairman of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Alaska Bar Association; a co-author of How to Draft Wills and Trusts in Alaska; and has presented on "Alaska Community Property Trusts: The Other Alaska Trust" at the WealthCounsel National Conference. Before joining Foley & Foley PC, he clerked for the Honorable Michael A. Thompson in Ketchikan, Alaska. Mr. Pearson is a member of WealthCounsel, a national organization of estate planning professionals; the Anchorage Estate Planning Council; the Alaska and Anchorage bar associations; and the Nordic Ski Club of Anchorage. He has been an active supporter of the Young Lawyer Section of the Alaska Bar Association and served for a number of years as the race director of Race Judicata, an annual running event to raise funds and awareness for Anchorage Youth Court.
