ELIZABETH P. HODES is a senior associate with Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. Her practice is primarily focused on employment counseling and litigation, addressing a broad range of issues such as leave and disability laws, harassment and discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, contract disputes, personnel policies, and wage and hour matters. Ms. Hodes regularly lectures on these topics before HR professionals, lawyers and other groups, and contributes to various employment law publications. Her clients include hospitals and health care providers, hotels, utilities providers, seafood processors, financial services and other service industry companies, and a variety of small businesses. Ms. Hodes is a member of the American Bar Association and the Alaska Bar Association, and is co-chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Alaska Bar Association. She received her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Lewis & Clark Law School, where she was a member of the Cornelius Honor Society, Business Law Roundtable Scholar, editor-in-chief of the Animal Law Review, and the style and format editor of the Oregon Intellectual Property Newsletter. MELANIE B. OSBORNE is of counsel with Stoel Rives LLP, and has experience with a broad range of employment issues, including policy development and enforcement, recruitment, dispute resolution, training, compliance, compensation systems, employee counseling and employer defense in administrative proceedings. She has conducted numerous employment-related seminars and training sessions on a variety of areas, including discrimination, wage and hour issues, retaliation, and workplace behavior/team building. Before joining Stoel Rives, Ms. Osborne served as vice president and general counsel (2009-2010) and as human resources director (2007-2009) at Ahtna, Inc. where she oversaw the company's litigation, employee benefits, insurance and workers' compensation, risk management, ethics and compliance, safety, and records management programs. Ms. Osborne combines her broad in-house and legal experience to prevent liability and litigation by providing practical, preventative counseling on labor and employment issues. She received her B.A. degree from the University of Alaska and her J.D. degree from the University of Washington School of Law.
RENEA I. SAADE an attorney with the law firm of Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker LLP, routinely assists employers with various employment law matters, including drafting, revising and enforcing their employee manuals; non-compete/non-solicitation agreements; and employment contracts. Ms. Saade also provides advice and on-site training for her clients on the topics of preventing harassment and discrimination in the workplace, wage/hour compliance, leave laws, performance reviews, and termination procedures. She regularly appears before federal and state courts and defends employers against claims of sexual harassment, religious, racial, disability, wage/hour claims, and gender discrimination. Ms. Saade represents employers in agency audits and investigations. In addition to her representation of employers, she also represents businesses in various contract disputes. Ms. Saade is also a court approved arbitrator for the Washington courts located in Snohomish and Pierce counties, and has served as an appointed arbitrator for the Washington State Bar Association's Legal Fee Alternative Dispute Program. She currently serves as a volunteer mediator for Alaska's Third Judicial District Court and for the EEOC's pro bono mediator program. Ms. Saade is a member of the Society of Human Resources Managers, the employment law sections of various bar associations and the Chamber of Commerce of Anchorage. She received her B.A. from the University of Washington in Seattle and her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston.
