JEFF BARBER is a partner in the Anchorage law firm of Barber & Sims LLC. Mr. Barber is a plaintiff's trial attorney and practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, insurance law and bad faith. He earned his B.A. degree from Connecticut College and his J.D. degree from Northwest School of Law at Lewis & Clark College. GUTSCH has practiced in the area of insurance defense since 1988. Mr. Gutsch has practiced with Richmond & Quinn since 1995. Mr. Gutsch earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Knox College and his J.D. degree from the University of Illinois, where he was a member of the Law Review and Moot Court team. MAASSEN is an attorney and principal of Ingaldson, Maassen & Fitzgerald, P.C., a general-practice law firm in Anchorage, Alaska. He has been with the firm since its founding in 1994. Mr. Maassen primarily represents parties in civil litigation, including trials and appeals. Recent appellate work includes such diverse issues as the Wage and Hour Act obligations of interstate air carriers, hospital Certificates of Need, insurance bad faith, public utility elections, the legislative power to investigate the executive branch, and the funding of police and fire retirement systems. Mr. Maassen earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Hope College and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a member of the Alaska Bar Association Board of Governors, 2009- present; Alaska Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Civil Pattern Jury Instructions; and Alaska Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Appellate Delay. Mr. Maassen received the Professionalism Award from the Board of Governors, Alaska Bar Association, 2006 and is listed in Alaska Super Lawyers 2009, General Litigation. GARY A. ZIPKIN is a partner in the Alaska law firm of Guess & Rudd P.C., where his practice emphasizes insurance bad faith and coverage issues, and the defense of professional liability claims, personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, automobile negligence, aviation accident litigation, premises liability, construction contract litigation, and commercial and mineral law litigation and trial. Mr. Zipkin has tried many cases before judges and juries around the State of Alaska since 1975. He earned his A.B. degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his J.D. degree from Hastings College of the Law, University of California. Mr. Zipkin is a member of the Alaska Bar Association, State Bar of California, 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. Supreme Court; American Board of Trial Advocates, Defense Research Institute and Defense Counsel of Alaska. He is a Trustee of the Alaska Bar Foundation, a past president of the Defense Counsel of Alaska and past president of the Alaska Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
