ROXANNE E. CHRIST is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins LLP and is a member of the corporate department. Her practice focuses on intellectual property, technology and media transactions, including both US-based and China-based cross-border acquisitions and dispositions of intellectual property portfolios; commercial loans secured by copyrights, patents and trademarks; securitizations of receivables arising from copyrighted works; licensing and strategic alliance agreements; and purchases, sales and restructurings of technology and media assets in bankruptcy. For several consecutive years Ms. Christ has been recognized by Legal 500 US Guides as a leading attorney in technology, video and online gaming corporate advice and the Legal 500 US: Volume II - Intellectual Property, Media, Technology & Telecoms. As noted in the Chambers USA guide, she is considered by clients to be one of the leaders in the burgeoning video game industry. In 2010, Ms. Christ was named among the Top 100 Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal and was selected by Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the Top 40 Lawyers in Los Angeles for work in interactive media. She previously served as co-chair of the Publications Subcommittee of the American Bar Association's Special Committee on Computer Gaming and Virtual Worlds. Ms. Christ's recent publications include: co-editor, Computer Games and Virtual Worlds, A New Frontier in Intellectual Property Law, American Bar Association (2010), "Clean Games," 31 (3) Los Angeles Lawyer 42 (2008) and "Virtual Worlds: Personal Jurisdiction and Click-Wrap Licenses," Intellectual Property and Technology Law Journal (January, 2008). She has spoken at seminars in her main areas of practice. Ms Christ earned her B.A. degree from University of California at Los Angeles and her J.D. degree from Loyola University in Los Angeles. STEVE GOLDSTEIN is a partner with Stubbs Alderton & Markiles and chair of the interactive entertainment and video games practice group. His practice concentrates on advising clients within the video game industry on legal issues across all aspects of their business, including negotiation of video game publishing agreements, merchandizing agreements, co-marketing agreements and other inbound and outbound licenses regarding the exploitation of video game intellectual property, Internet best practices, drafting of online game privacy policies and terms of use, alternative financing, global corporate structuring, and legal issues related to the use and trade of virtual goods. Mr. Goldstein has spoken at a variety of video game related conferences, including Game Developers Conference, Game::Business::Law Summit, San Diego Comic-Con, Austin Game Developers Conference, Online Game Developers Conference, Consumer Electronics Show and Law Seminars International's Gamer Technology Law panel. He acts as an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School, where he teaches a course on the law of video games and virtual worlds. Mr. Goldstein earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan and his J.D. degree from University of Southern California LOGAN MARGULIES is head counsel with RiotGames, a video game developer and publisher based in Santa Monica, California. RiotGames produces a successful online video game called League of Legends, which has more than 11 million players worldwide. Mr. Margulies focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law, specifically trademark, copyright, unfair competition, right of privacy, right of publicity, domain names, counterfeiting, and licensing, as well as general business law including major transactions and litigation. He earned his B.A. degree from The Ohio State University and his J.D. degree from University of Virginia School of Law. Mr. Margulies is a member of the State Bar of California. DANIEL O'CONNELL OFFNER is a partner with Loeb & Loeb LLP and chair of the firm's interactive entertainment practice group. Mr. Offner is considered one of the leading lawyers in the interactive entertainment industry, in addition to working extensively in the traditional media, digital content and IT industries. His clients often work directly at the intersection of content and technology where new products, companies and industries are being born and rapidly growing. A primary focus of Mr. Offner's practice is the representation of many of the top videogame publishers, technology companies, developers, and console manufacturers in the United States and worldwide on all aspects of their business. He often works closely with clients to structure, negotiate, finance and close complicated content acquisition, development and distribution transactions. Increasingly, a large component of Mr. Offner's practice is working with publishers of content for the digital platform, as well as traditional retail to develop new and innovative financing and distribution strategies and transactions. He regularly advises clients on mergers and acquisitions and due diligence issues. In addition, Mr. Offner regularly assists clients with licensing, co-branding, partner, consulting, customer acquisition, advertising, content publishing, distribution and executive employment transactions. His practice had its start in the publishing and media industries, where he is still active. Mr. Offner began his career working for such clients as the copyright and trademark rights holders to The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, one of the main distributors of Japanese Anime videos in the United States and the financiers of the Robocop animated children's television series. He has been a speaker for Game Developers Conference Online (October 11-14, 2011), LSI Gamer Technology Law Conference (October 3-4, 2011), Game Developers Conference (GDC) Europe (August 15-17, 2011) and The Deals and Future of Multimedia Gaming - Gaming's Cutting Edge: Mobile, Social, Music and Online Gaming, Beverly Hills, California (May 18, 2011). Mr. Offner is a member of the Los Angeles Bar Association, International Game Developers Association, Casual Games Association and Video Game Bar Association. He earned his B.A. degree from Yale University, and his M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from Boston University.
