Program Description
|
|
Legal privilege is one of the key fundamentals to our legal principles which encourages a client to fully disclose information to their legal advisors. Attorneys frequently utilize paralegals in reviewing documents for privilege, and as privileged information is determined, withholding such material from production in discovery. This presentation will review how to identify the key types of privilege, conduct privilege reviews and create privilege logs.

MICHELE M. BOERDER is a paralegal with K&L Gates LLP. She has 31 years of paralegal experience, including large case and specialty litigation; general business litigation, civil tax controversy work and tax litigation, "white collar" criminal defense, case management and utilization of database litigation support, direct client contact and liaison with in-house and co-counsel attorneys. Ms. Boerder is a Board Certified Paralegal in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is also a Certified Paralegal (Certified Paralegal Examination) by the National Association of Legal Assistants. She receive the "Paralegal of the Year Award" in 2005 from the National Federation of Paralegal Association, the "Michele M. Boerder Lifetime Achievement Award" from the in 2006 from the Dallas Area Paralegal Association and the "Legal Assistant of the Year Award" in 1995 from the Dallas Association of Legal Assistants. She was selected for the Thomson Book publication: "The 15 Most Successful Paralegals in America". Ms. Boerder has written numerous publications in her areas of specialization. She has sat on numerous advisory boards. She has lectured and taught for state paralegal and attorney associations. She is a chair member for the Dallas Area Paralegal Association - Leadership/Management Section. She was a member of the Civil Trial Law Paralegal Exam Commission (Texas Board of Legal Specialization). Ms. Boerder is the former president of the Dallas Area Paralegal Association and the State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division.
