ELISA CALDERON is a senior paralegal at the law firm of Olson & Olson LLP, a governmental defense firm in Houston, where she practices litigation for a partner of the firm. Ms. Calderon has 14 years of experience as a practicing paralegal. She was recently elected to the Board of Texas' largest local paralegal association, the Houston Metropolitan Paralegal Association (HMPA) and appointed as Chairman for the Professional Houston Paralegal Committee. In this role, Ms. Calderon is responsible for accrediting members with educational requirements. She is involved with HMPA's annual symposium which is an outreach program for paralegal students and entry level paralegals. Also, Ms. Calderon recently assumed the role of Training Director of Legal Education for Olson & Olson LLP. She is responsible for facilitating continuing legal education for the firm's 25 attorneys and 12 paralegals, and monitoring compliance with the firm's CLE requirements. Ms. Calderon continues to be an advocate for the promotion and development of the paralegal profession by her involvement with HMPA, mentoring and training.
