| From Event: The Paralegal's Guide to Drafting Appellate Briefs, held June 2011.
Program Description
In appellate practice, attorneys cannot rely on oral arguments to get your point across - the brief presents the case to the judge. It is critical that you use language to tailor the brief to the audience, argue only the law limited to the record, and "cut to the point" of the case. Uncover the reasons why judges read particular briefs, how to properly follow citation forms and court rules, and how persuasive propositions further the brief's argument.

Course Content
- The Appellate Record
- Choosing the Relevant Legal Authorities
- Structuring an Appellate Brief
