CLEMENT D. CARTER is a partner with the law firm of Williams Mullen in Richmond, Virginia, where his practice centers on products liability and toxic tort litigation, including multi-district litigation, and includes commercial litigation and insurance defense. His experience includes jury and non-jury trials to verdict in state and federal courts. Mr. Carter has been active in the University of Richmond School of Law appellate advocacy and trial advocacy programs, and he has been recognized by Chief Justice Harry L. Carrico for his participation as a trial lawyer in the Supreme Court of Virginia's Pre-Bench Orientation Program. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Washington and Lee University and his J.D. degree from William and Mary School of Law. Mr. Carter is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Virginia State Bar and The West Virginia State Bar. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Texas, Virginia and West Virginia, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Carter is a member of the Defense Research Institute and serves on the Products Liability and Toxic Tort Committee. He was admitted to practice in West Virginia in 1982. While in West Virginia, Mr. Carter was a member of the West Virginia Defense Trial Association, the West Virginia Self-Insurers Association, and he served on the Governor's Council during the administration of Governor Cecil Underwood. He was a frequent speaker to numerous organizations, including The West Virginia State Bar, the Chamber of Commerce, the West Virginia Self-Insurers Association, and he was a guest lecturer at the West Virginia University School of Law. RYAN FURGURSON practices in the areas of general business litigation, civil litigation, and mass tort law. As a senior associate in the law firm of Williams Mullen, Mr. Furgurson has experience counseling clients on the defense of products liability, personal injury, premises liability and insurance subrogation litigation. Mr. Furgurson is licensed to practice in Georgia and Virginia, and is on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, where he chairs the Virginia Bar Association's Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Pro Bono Legal Clinic. He also is a member of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. Mr. Furgurson earned his B.A. degree from Duke University and his J.D. degree from Emory University School of Law. While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Society, serving as both a competitor and coach, and was the winner of the Georgia Intrastate Moot Court Competition Best Brief Award. Mr. Furgurson also received Special Commendation for the Kessler-Eidson Trial Techniques Program. ROBERT F. REDMOND JR. is a partner in the law firm of Williams Mullen, where he focuses his trial practice on mass tort, product liability, and complex commercial litigation. Mr. Redmond regularly tries jury cases to verdict in state and federal courts around the country. He was trial counsel in a multi-million dollar Lanham Act and defamation jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. The case resulted in the largest verdict in Virginia for 2009. Mr. Redmond was trial counsel in a case selected by the National Law Journal as one of the "Top Ten Defense Verdicts of 2002" and has served as counsel in numerous other jury trials around the nation. He also serves as counsel for corporations involved in insurance coverage, patent, trademark and intellectual property litigation in Virginia. Mr. Redmond is admitted to practice law in Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C. and Texas, as well as federal courts in those jurisdictions and elsewhere. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Virginia Business magazine's Legal Elite, and Virginia Super Lawyers magazine. Mr. Redmond writes and speaks extensively on mass tort litigation, insurance coverage, federal procedure, and electronic discovery. He is a member of the board of directors of the John Marshall American Inn of Court, and is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and Defense Research Institute. Mr. Redmond also serves on the board for the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He maintains an active pro bono practice and has been awarded the City of Richmond Bar Association's John C. Kenny award and the Virginia Law Weekly Leaders in the Law award for starting a pro bono clinic for Hispanic immigrants in Richmond. Mr. Redmond's pro bono work was profiled in the National Law Journal. He earned his B.A. degree, with high distinction, from the University of Virginia, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and he earned his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University, where he was associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal.
