GWEN E. MINNIER, MBA, ACP, is an environmental geologist with AMEC Geomatrix, Inc. She started her career as a geologist and has now returned to that field. In the 16 years between geology jobs, however, she was a paralegal. She has worked in the areas of subrogation, civil rights, bad faith, employment, construction defect, environmental law, personal and catastrophic injury and wrongful death for both plaintiff and defense. During her time as paralegal, she has significant experience with pro se plaintiffs, class actions, large document cases, databases and trial preparation. She was also active in several professional paralegal organizations. Currently, Ms. Minnier works in environmental remediation and also acts as litigation support for colleagues in her office who frequently serve as expert witnesses in environmental cases. Her employer is a consulting firm and the same ethical principles apply to her now as did when she was a paralegal. Ms. Minnier received her B.S. degree from Arizona State University, her M.B.A. degree from the University of Phoenix and her A.A.S. degree, in paralegal studies, from the American Institute in Phoenix. She received her CP designation in 1993 and ACP designation in civil litigation in 1994. She is currently working on a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Technical Writing and Communications from Arizona State University.
