MARYLEE ABRAMS is an attorney with Abrams & Schmidt LLC. She has worked as a labor and employment attorney for the past 25 years. Ms. Abrams previously worked for the teacher's union and the largest police union in the state of Minnesota, serving dual roles representing both union members and union management in internal workplace matters. This unique perspective from both sides of the table, lead her to open her own firm in 2008, dedicated solely to representing employers. Ms. Abrams has arbitrated numerous disciplinary cases, been involved in both representing employees and conducting over 1,000 internal investigations, and lectured at numerous labor and employment seminars. Her firm covers a broad range of workplace issues facing employers, including union organizing, contract negotiations, arbitrations, unemployment challenges, unfair labor practices, workplace investigations, lay-offs, employee discipline, performance problems, employee handbooks, policies and procedures, and downsizing. Ms. Abrams earned her B.S. degree from Hamline University and her J.D. degree from William Mitchell College of Law. She is admitted to practice in the state of Minnesota. Ms. Abrams is a member of the Minnesota State and Ramsey County bar associations, the White Bear Area Commerce, and the District 622 Education Foundation (2010 board member).

MARLENE S. GARVIS is a partner in the law firm of Jardine, Logan & O'Brien, P.L.L.P. She focuses her practice on representing clients on professional liability, licensing and discipline, employment, product liability, healthcare, and ERISA matters for consultation and litigation. Ms. Garvis has been an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and Hamline University Law School. She is a neutral for arbitration and mediation on the Minnesota Supreme Court Roster, a frequent presenter, and she has authored many articles on diverse legal issues. Ms. Garvis has an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. She is a past president of the Hennepin County Bar Association, the Hennepin County Bar Foundation, and Minnesota Women Lawyers. Currently, Ms. Garvis is co-chair of the MSBA Diversity Implementation Task Force, a member of Minnesota Women Lawyer's Advisory Board, chair of the Federal Bar Association Health Law Section, chair of the Board of the Battered Women's Advocacy Project, and vice chair of an ABA Health Law Section Committee. She also is a member of the Warren Burger Inn of Court.

MARK HAZELBAKER is the founder and owner of the Madison firm of Hazelbaker & Associates, where his practice is devoted to labor and employment, municipal law, land use law, and real estate law. Mr. Hazelbaker began his career as legal counsel for the Wisconsin Counties Association. He served as personnel director/corporation counsel, and later as administrative coordinator for Manitowoc county. Mr. Hazelbaker's work in Manitowoc County led to the Center for Public Representation, awarding him its Outstanding Local Government Employee award in 1989. He has been in private practice since 1992, first with downtown Madison law firms and then in his own firm since 1999. Mr. Hazelbaker has lectured many times on labor and employment law, land use law, and municipal law for various business and professional groups, and published law reviews and other articles. He is a member of the Dane County Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin (Litigation and Labor and Employment and Government Lawyers Division sections). Mr. Hazelbaker earned his B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin and his J.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Law.
