DAVID H. ABNEY II built his Frankfort, Kentucky, law practice on the philosophy that tort victims' settlement proceeds should not be eaten up by healthcare subrogation and reimbursement claims. By resolving thousands of subrogation claims over the past decade, Mr. Abney has cultivated extensive experience with ERISA, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement claims. Before establishing his own practice, he served in the general counsel's office of the largest post-payment healthcare recovery vendor in the U.S. Mr. Abney has written numerous articles and lectured extensively on the topics of ERISA, Medicare, Medicaid and other types of health care subrogation and reimbursement issues and contributed to the 2005, 2006, 2007 versions of The National Subrogation Law Manual. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, and the Kentucky Justice Association, where he serves on the board of governors. Mr. Abney also chaired the Kentucky Justice Association's subrogation seminars in 2008, 2009 and 2010. DR. KENNETH S. JAFFE is board certified in internal medicine at Kenneth S. Jaffe, M.D., P.A. Dr. Jaffe is affiliated with Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Palms West Hospital and Wellington Regional Medical Center. He is a member of the AMA and ACP-ASIM. Dr. Jaffe completed his categorical medicine residency at Prince Georges Hospital Center and his surgery internship at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Dr. Jaffe received his education at Ross University School of Medicine, Roseau, Dominica, British West Indies (Doctorate of Medicine); Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina (Bachelor of Science, cum laude). ERIC ROMANO is an attorney in the West Palm Beach law firm of Romano Law Group, where he practices in the areas of criminal defense, trial practice, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice and business litigation. Mr. Romano is a former Assistant State Attorney with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's office. He has lectured to various professional groups on pre-trial investigation and discovery in criminal and civil cases and trial notebook issues. Mr. Romano earned his B.S. degree from Florida State University and his J.D. degree from Stetson University. He is a member of the American and Palm Beach County bar associations, the Palm Beach County Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the Florida Justice Association, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Palm Beach Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association (president). DR. PETER M. SCHOSHEIM is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He is the CEO and founder of Physicians Medical Review LLC, a medical-legal consulting firm. PMR was founded in 2002 after Dr. Schosheim had retired from active orthopedic practice at the Boca Raton Orthopedic Group. For 22 years, Dr. Schosheim was the managing partner of his practice. He was a general orthopedic surgeon who had fellowship training in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. Dr. Schosheim was an assistant clinical professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine Department of Orthopedic Surgery until his retirement in 2003. He was the past president of the Medical Staff at Boca Raton Community Hospital and a member of its Board of Trustees from 1998 - 2004. In 2001, Dr. Schosheim was recognized as one of U.S. News & World Report's "Top 1,000 Surgeons In The U.S." Over the past few years, Dr. Schosheim has spoken at numerous national seminars regarding medical-legal issues. Since founding PMR, the firm has had a special interest in plaintiff malpractice and personal injury litigation. Since 2002, PMR's physician reviewers have evaluated approximately 1,000 potential medical malpractice cases and personal injury files per year. Over the years, PMR also has assisted attorney groups nationally to help obtain medical experts for their medical-legal litigation and helped with deposition and trial preparation.
