Program Description

In many cases, no one knows the medical records better than the paralegal that handles them on a daily basis. Learn to create a chronological set of medical records to assist in preparing a medical chronology, in conjunction with a useful medical summary memorandum to assist you and your attorney in pinpointing lapses in treatment, pre-existing conditions, or alternative causes such as exacerbations or additional injuries to defend or enhance the Plaintiff's claim of injury. Learn practical tips from a paralegal with over 25 years of legal experience that you can put into practice on your next case.

COLEEN C. HOFFMEISTER is a senior paralegal at White & Steele, P.C., in Denver, Colorado. She brings over 27 years of high-level legal experience to the table. Ms. Hoffmeister's experience spans from "ordinary" personal injury cases to cases involving demands and judgments into the millions of dollars. She is responsible for ensuring there are no loose ends in high-dollar, complex suits involving medical malpractice; bad faith; personal injuries, including wrongful death; catastrophic injuries; product liability; and premises liability. Ms. Hoffmeister uses her affinity for detail to pinpoint medical, factual, and legal issues and is an invaluable member of the White & Steele team. She earned her B.A. degree from Washburn University, while continuing her legal assistant work in areas including defense, probate, estate, construction, minor settlements, plaintiff's, wrongful death, and medical malpractice cases. Ms. Hoffmeister is a member of the Institute for Paralegal Education Review Board and has instructed at IPE annual seminars on preparing medical chronologies. She also is a member of the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, Chapter Phi Rho.
