CHRISTINE E. CERNIGLIA is a visiting professor of legal skills at Stetson University College of Law where she teaches legal research and writing, supervised the Florida Circuit Court Appellate internship, coached the pre-trial moot court competition and was the moot court practice judge from 2009 to 2010. She has extensive legal experience including serving as a paralegal at Jones Walker, where she managed documents for class action environmental toxic tort litigation and interviewed potential witnesses. Ms. Cerniglia also was a law clerk at Sharp, Henry, Cerniglia, Colvin, Weaver & Hymel and also Wilkes & McHugh. She served as staff attorney for the State of Florida, Sixth Judicial Circuit from May of 2006 to August of 2009. Ms. Cerniglia is currently working on After the Oil Settles, Navigating the Slippery Waters of Applicable Law in the BP Blowout (analyzing the conundrum in maritime issues in the BP oil spill disaster, and suggesting a resolution that favors regulation and uniformity) as well as The Legal Estuary (empirical study of the decreased use and funding of clerk positions at state trial courts, despite increased docket sizes). Ms. Cerniglia earned her B.S. degree from Loyola University and her J.D. degree from Loyola University School of Law.
